The purpose of the Supportive Housing Apartments is to help prevent and end homelessness by providing affordable rental housing linked to supportive services such as job counseling, support groups and access to healthcare. The development of affordable supportive housing is now recognized nationally by organizations such as the Corporation for Supportive Housing and the National Coalition to End Homelessness as the permanent solution to ending homelessness.
in Fremont contains 26 units of permanent and transitional supportive housing for adults and children. Rents are offered at no more than 1/3 of household income. The apartments target low-income families and individuals and people with special needs who require consistent access to social services to live independently. This group includes the elderly, the disabled, the homeless, disadvantaged youth, battered women, the mentally ill and those suffering from HIV/AIDS or recovering from substance abuse problems. In addition to housing, residents are offered a wide spectrum of supportive services from individual case management, job counseling, drug and alcohol counseling to children's programs, support groups and access to health care. in San Leandro contains 25 units of permanent housing for low and very low income individuals and families. in Castro Valley consists of 28 units with the objective of providing permanent and affordable housing for multiple families that are very low income and disabled adults. The families that reside in our units are also linked to an integrated network of on-site services. The on-site services that Tri-City Homeless Coalition provides are specifically designed to address the needs of families that have been without stable housing in addition to disabled persons. The complex consists of 30 units with the objective of providing permanent and affordable housing for multiple families that are homeless, survivors of domestic violence, very low income, emancipated foster youth and disabled adults.
