Western Digital Gives Back

Dao Duong and Joy Saniel of Western Digital in Fremont recently toured Sunrise Village and presented Abode Services with a generous $20,000 grant to support Sunrise Village. With the economic downturn, increasing numbers of people, especially families, are seeking shelter, food and crisis support services.  The funds from Western Digital will help ensure that these critical services assist homeless families and individuals to return to stable ands self-sufficient lives.

Indo-American Charity Ball

Indo-Americans for Better Community recently selected Abode Services as one of two local non-profit organizations to receive funds from the annual Indo-American Charity Ball. The ball was held at the Fremont Marriott on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Abode Services received a check for $25,501. Many thanks for your continued support!

Fremont Bank Foundation and Abode Services Continue to Join Forces to End Homelessness in Alameda County

The willingness and passion to end homelessness in Alameda County is the core link between Fremont Bank Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Bay Area’s Fremont Bank, and Abode Services, formerly known as Tri-City Homeless Coalition. For years, the two organizations have established an intimate unity in the quest to assist low-income, un-housed residents to secure, stable and supportive housing—while advocating the removal of the causes of homelessness.  Read the press release

March 12, 2009 - Journey Home Breakfast

The Fourth Annual Journey Home Breakfast held on March 12 was a huge success.  More than $125,000 was raised to benefit the services and programs of Abode Services.  The Journey Home breakfast is an annual event focused on engaging members of the community to make long-term commitments of financial support.  Many thanks to our generous sponsors, volunteers and donors.

Feb. 11, 2009: Tri-City Homeless Coalition Marks 20th Anniversary by Changing Name to Abode Services

Tri-City Homeless Coalition (TCHC), a leading Alameda County provider of sustainable housing solutions for people at risk for homelessness, announced today that it is changing its name to Abode Services. The announcement was made at a news conference held this afternoon at the agency’s administrative headquarters at 40849 Fremont Blvd. in Fremont, where donors, volunteers, local government officials and business organizations, employees, and members of the board of directors gathered to mark the 20th anniversary of the organization and witness the unveiling of the new name. Abode Services is proud to announce for the fourth consecutive year we have earned a 4-STAR rating from Charity Navigator!

Why is this important to us?  After analyzing various American charities, Charity Navigator has concluded that Abode Services has earned their fourth consecutive 4-star rating for our ability to efficiently manage and grow our finances.  Only 9% of the charities they rated have received at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that we have outperformed most charities in America in our efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible.  As stated by Charity Navigator, “this ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Abode Services from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust”.

Sister John Marie's Pantry donated funds to purchase a new food steamer for the Sunrise Village Shelter kitchen. Thank you to Monsignor Manuel Simas and the parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church for facilitating this generous donation. The cost of this commercial steamer was $5,687.65.
