Tri-City Homeless Coalition and Allied Housing have come a long way from the days when TCHC was contained within the walls of Sunrise Village. In 2002 the Administration moved to the Admin Building on Fremont Blvd., in Fremont. In 2005 the BridgeWay Apartments were finished, which includes support service offices. In 2005 Allied Housing Inc. formed a strategic alliance with TCHC. In February, 2006, Lorenzo Creek Apartments opened, which has an office for services. The HOPE mobile clinic is visiting locations in the tri-valley area to provide services to a wider area.
The Admin Office is at 40849 Fremont Blvd. in the Irvington section of Fremont. It is on one large property that also now includes the new Rotary BridgeWay Apartments which opened summer of 2005. The Admin Building contains the offices of Louis Chicoine, the Executive Director, Gay McDaniel, Chief Operating Officer, Jose Sanchez, Chief Financial Officer, Jean Morgan, Community Outreach Director, Michael Mwase, Housing Development Director, Thomas Herr, Housing Development Project Manager, and Penny Andersen, who manages Supportive Services and rental compliance. The Development Department includes Jamila Carey, who maintains the database, and Sally Donnell, who writes grants. The main number for this office is 510-657-7409.
Sunrise Village homeless shelter remains the heart of Tri-City Homeless Coalition. The shelter is on 588 Brown Rd., in the Warm Springs area of Fremont , Pam Odendahl-Quant, Emergency Housing Director, and Bonnie Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator have offices at Sunrise Village, as well as case managers, shelter monitors and other people who provide services there. BridgeWay Apartments, on property behind the Admin office, has an address at 4145 Bay St. and the offices house the service coordinators for Project Independence, the HOPE Project and for the clients who live at BridgeWay and the BridgeWay Apartments in Union City. Lorenzo Creek Apartments has just opened and has an office for the service provider, Larissa Edwards. The address is 22198 Center St., Castro Valley. The office number is 510-881-7622.
The Winter Relief Program, the emergency shelter program for families, moves from church to church every month. A day site in another church is maintained so that the case manager can meet with clients. For more information about the program contact Kara Carnahan at (510) 742-3904 ext. 208.
The HOPE Project, the mobile clinic that takes a case manager, a nurse practitioner, a substance abuse specialist and a mental health specialist to sites frequented by homeless people, now goes to 4 sites in Livermore and one site in Pleasanton, as well as 4 sites in Fremont. Concord House is a residential program in Hayward for people with HIV. Tri-City Homeless Coalition provides supportive services for those clients. The phone number is 510-278-1843.
